False alarms are irritating. Irritating to you, your neighbors…they even startle your pets.
They consume police resources and after too many you may be issued a fine or fee depending on where you live. Depending on your location, Enhanced Call Verification or ECV may be in place, requiring us to call at least 2 people on your call list before dispatching authorities.
Luckily, most false alarms are easily prevented.
If you do cause a false alarm, don’t panic! Have your Account ID or passcode ready for the operator who calls you or call our office 24/7 to report a false alarm. Declaring a false alarm quickly can save police resources from being dispatched unnecessarily.
Don’t be surprised if one of our team members contacts to check on you after a false alarm. We know you are busy and want to follow up to if we can help you in any way. If you have any questions or concerns, call us 24/7 at 410-546-2210.

In 2022 a fire broke out in a rowhouse in Philadelphia, killing at least 13 people. The deputy fire commissioner stated during a news conference that there were four smoke alarms but none of them worked during the fire.
Most people think of smoke alarms as those annoying devices that go off when you’re pan-searing those delicious steaks. But inside their plastic casing, there are fascinating technologies, making use of light sources and radioactive molecules, to alert us to the presence of smoke. Since their invention in the 1960s, smoke alarms have become integral parts of our homes, often mandated by law. There are two main types of residential smoke alarms, an important fact that is often not mentioned.
If you purchased your smoke detector from the hardware store or your electrician, you likely have an ionization detector, while we recommend and install photoelectric smoke detectors.
You may not know that most house fires are of the smoldering (rather than flaming) type, due to the abundance of flame retardant materials used in furniture upholstery and construction. Photoelectric smoke detectors detect smoldering fires better and faster.
Read about the specific differences for yourself here.
Monitored photoelectric smoke detectors are designed to protect your family and home 24/7, whether your alarm system is armed or not. Learn more about professional monitoring from Alarm Engineering here.

As a locally owned company, we feel strongly about enriching our community here on Delmarva. To that end, we have helped many organizations over the years by donating hardware and services. We are often approached directly by organizations who need our help. Whenever possible, we give.
However, we discovered many organizations don’t know we make donations. So, we have embarked on a goal of increasing awareness. Getting the word out about our donation program helps to ensure the worthiest organizations all over the Delmarva Peninsula are able to take advantage of our program.
We hope our Donation efforts inspire each of you to get involved in your community and support local business. When you support local businesses, you enable us and other local businesses to give back even more to our community.
