How to Set Up Alarm.com’s Santa Security

To catch Santa in your home or on your property, you’ll need the latest version of the Alarm.com app, and a compatible Alarm.com home security camera.* Follow the steps below or watch a quick tip video here.

1: Open your Alarm Engineering Alarm.com app and select a live video feed (choose a compatible Alarm.com security camera).

2: Tap the Santa icon in the video feed. This will get a still image from your security camera.

3: Choose a Santa from the menu to add to your snapshot. You’ll see full-color images of the real Santa for a daytime snapshot, and black and white options for the night. You can resize and move Santa if you need to.

4: Delight your family! When your kids wake you up on Christmas morning, show them your snapshot.

5: Share the magic! Share your Santa snapshots with family and friends by email, text*, and social media (hashtag: #SantaSecurity).

Don’t have Santa Security? Set up a Santa Alert instead.

A genuine Santa Alert from your smart home security system is another way to show your kids that Santa visited. All you need is your Alarm.com app, your web dashboard, and a single contact sensor.

Starting November 14^th, signals from your alarm system will be received and managed by a new monitoring station with the latest technology, and even better connectivity and redundancy than before. This is NOT a change in ownership – Alarm Engineering is still the same local, independent, and service-obsessed company you know and trust. 

This upgrade comes at no cost to you and does not change the way you use your system. Your arm code(s) used to arm/disarm the system, and your account passcode – the verbal passcode used to identify yourself over the phone to the operator, all remain the same.

Update Your Contact Information

What DOES change is how you call the central station. If you have any of the following phone numbers for the monitoring station saved in your phone, please delete them: 800-433-5500, 800-356-2222, 410-785-1740.

Starting immediately, please use our existing phone number: 410-546-2210 to reach the monitoring station. You now have the convenience of calling one phone number for everything/anything related to your alarm system – monitoring station, service, support, etc.

Please share this info with everyone on your contact list, with anyone within your organization/household that may need to contact the monitoring station.

Pause Video Analytics for Halloween

If you are expecting lots of trick-or-treaters, you can prevent an overload of notifications and preserve your clips by temporarily pausing Video recording rules.

How It Works

Easily pause video recording rules for your preferred amount of time directly from the Recording Rules page. You can also take action directly from a push notification: just tap the notification and select pause of one hour, one day, or until the rule is turned back on manually.

The recording will automatically resume once the time has lapsed. You can view the status of the rule, when pause period will expire, and easily resume at any time.

How To Pause on Recording Rules Page

From the your account website, click Video, then Recording Rules. Tap the status icon on the right side of the rule and select the timeframe that works best for you.

From the mobile app, click Video then Settings, then Recording Rules. Tap the status icon under the name of the rule and select the timeframe that works best for you.

If you sometimes (or often!) forget to arm or disarm your security system, this is the feature for you. Alarm.com has unveiled Smart Arming, which goes beyond scheduled arming and disarming to adapt to your daily routines and take another thing off your to-do list.

Setup is Quick and Easy

Smart Arming is quick and easy to set up. Simply select the Clock icon in your app and choose the time of day you typically want your system armed at night (say, after 10pm) and disarmed in the morning (say, 7am), and then go about your daily routine. When your system detects inside activity or motion, like an early riser going downstairs at 6:15 am, the system automatically disarms.

You can also select a window of time to auto-disarm when activity is detected, without a scheduled time to disarm. This intelligent adaptability drastically reduces the risk of false alarms and makes home security even more convenient.
