Have You Set Up Your Security System Passcode?

Security System Passcodes are an easy tool for each Alarm Engineering customer to cancel a false alarm without having to find the little black and white Account ID card you were given on installation day.

Sometimes, customers say they keep their Account ID card out on the fridge or next to their keypad because it’s hard to remember. Bad idea! This valuable ID can be used cancel false alarms but is also used to make changes to your call list or any account information. Having this Account ID guarantees to our team that it is indeed you calling in to ask questions or make changes to your account.

This is where your Passcode comes in…

A Passcode is not the same as the codes you punch into your keypad to arm or disarm, it is a single word that your family or your employees can easily remember but an intruder could not guess. A passcode only cancels false alarms, and does not give the bearer the authority change anything else on your account.

Don’t have a Passcode yet or don’t remember what your Passcode it is? Call in today with your Account ID and our team will walk you through it, or click here

The Do’s and Don’ts of Passcodes and Account IDs:

DO:

  1. Set up a passcode for your account that your family or employees will know but is not easy for a burglar to guess. Never use your or your businesses name or address as a passcode!
  2. Make sure your Account ID in a safe hidden place that is easily accessible when you need to make changes on your account.

DON’T:

  1. Write your Passcode or Account ID on or near your keypad in your home or business. If someone breaks in, they likely will be looking for this information to cancel the alarm.
  2. Give workers or temporary help your Passcode. Instead, upgrade your system to allow for custom user codes you can easily turn off when that worker is no longer authorized to access your property. With our current Customer Loyalty Promotion, many customers have already upgraded for free.
