National Night Out Brings Law Enforcement & Community Together
This year’s NNO community celebration at Salisbury City Park was once again a success. Our local police and fire departments provided demonstrations and giveaways for parents and kids, including many bicycles with helmets included! There was music, free food, and lots of fun.
The introduction of National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime”, in 1984 began an effort to promote involvement in police-community partnerships, crime prevention activities, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
National Night Out now involves over 37.8 million people and 16,124 communities from all fifty states, U.S. Territories, and military bases worldwide. As you can see, It’s stronger than ever in Salisbury.
For this year’s NNO celebration, we gave away an iPad mini, won by Pete and Amanda (pictured below). We had fun with many of our community’s kids with our Cuff the Burglar game (our security take on Pin the Tail on the Donkey), where kids got to be junior crimefighters. Plus, we gave away over 100 McGruff Safe Kids ID Kits, filled with informative and fun safety tips and games for kids and parents and a do-it-yourself fingerprint kit. If you would like kits for your little ones in your life, stop into our office during business hours and pick some up in our lobby free of charge.
